Established in 1968, Jinnah College was located in the Mohakhali area of Banani Thana in Dhaka city, Bangladesh, covering an area of 11 acres. After independence, the college was renamed Government Titumir College.
Although only higher secondary classes existed at the time of its establishment, in 1998 the higher secondary classes were abolished and only undergraduate and postgraduate education programs were started.
At present, undergraduate and postgraduate education programs are available in a total of 22 departments in the three faculties of Science, Arts and Social Sciences, and Business Education.
Although each department has its own library, the college has a central library with more than 20,000 books.
The college has 5 residential halls for students. There are also 9 buses for the transportation of students.
And there are more than 22 social and cultural organizations in Government Titumir College.
The college has more than 225 academicians including 2 deans, more than 250 administrative personnel and about 35,000 students.
It is worth noting that although this college was affiliated to Dhaka University in 2017, this affiliation was canceled in January 2025.
